CHAPTERS INCLUDE:
-FOOTWORK/MOBILITY
Footwork and mobility is an indispensable element of Jeet Kune Do, because it is the transport system which permits you to execute your actions properly; allowing you to hit, moving you into position to hit, and moving you away from danger.
-WEAPONS of COMBAT
In JKD, your body is the instrument you use, and the various striking weapons that you use are referred to as the “tools of the trade.” This section will introduce you to and help develop your understanding of some of the various tools and weapons that make up the JKD combative arsenal.
-COUNTERATTACK SKILLS
When an opponent attacks you, they’re going to offer you an opening somewhere, or at least the opportunity to interrupt their attack before completion. Counter-attacking allows you to avoid being hit while at the same time succeed in hitting an opponent while they are still out of balance as a result of missing you with their attack. This section is designed to help you develop the counter-attacking skills that are a vital part of any JKD practitioner’s combative arsenal.
-DEFENSIVE SKILLS
Good defensive skills are an important and necessary for any JKD practitioner, and this section is designed to help you develop those skills. In “Defensive Skills” we share with you the four basic methods of defense including using footwork to evade an attack, using body displacement actions including slipping, the bob and weave, ducking, rolling, the use of various types of parries, and finally the ability to cover or block attacks if necessary.
-TRAPPING
Hand Immobilization Attacks, or “trapping” as it is also known, allows you to immobilize or “trap” either one or both of the opponent’s arms and either land a hit, or draw a reaction which you can then counter. Trapping can also be used to effectively offset other forms of attack such as punching, etc. By developing your ability to use trapping, you can literally maneuver an opponent’s arms where you want them, and create a situation whereby an opponent is forced to give you a reaction to his own detriment.
